How’s it going? Hope the coffee is flowing! Today, I’m reviewing a special Christmas limited-edition coffee offered by Purity Coffee. This week I am brewing what may have become my wife’s new favorite brew, Purity Hearth!
The Roaster
Based in Greenville, South Carolina, Purity Coffee is a brand dedicated to sustainability, eco-friendliness, and providing coffee lovers with some of the healthiest coffee on the market. You can learn more about how they achieve these goals here, or by reading my reviews of their Sacred Cups Medium Roast and Dark Roast.
Hearth is a Colombian peaberry, check out my Amelia Island Coffee review for more information on peaberry coffee. Essentially, this is a type of bean that only accounts for about 5% of the coffee beans in the world and results in a more flavorful coffee. Spoiler alert: Hearth definitely lived up to that expectation!
When rating coffee I follow the same method of brewing each time. Find out about how I prepare French Press coffee here.
Purity Coffee Hearth Review
Characteristics and Flavor Profile
Grinding Hearth brought a mildly sweet aroma with just a hint of citrus and a slight creaminess.
| Purity Hearth | French Press | Pour-Over |
| Aroma | Bright pop of citrus, fruity and tart with a touch of caramel | Sweet caramel notes with a hint of fruit |
| Body | Medium body, slightly noticeable weight | Medium-light body, not overly heavy but a slight mouthfeel |
| Start | Bold citrus notes, perfectly balanced between sweetness and tartness | Mild notes of slightly tart fruit |
| Middle | Semi-sweet nutty middle, hazelnut-like notes | Rich notes of burnt sugar, caramel-like |
| Finish | Caramel-like sweetness with distinct creamy notes present | Bold and nutty, strong roasty notes without much sweetness |
Overall Thoughts
Overall, this was a delicious cup of coffee, my wife prefers cold brew over hot coffee, however if she knows I am brewing Hearth in the morning she happily takes a cup. It is smooth and easy to drink, with a fantastic flavor profile that offers a touch of complexity with the fruity notes while still remaining coffee-focused. This is a truly fantastic coffee and I think any coffee drinker would enjoy it.
I preferred Hearth in my French Press, I found it to be slightly smoother, though the cup of pour-over was fantastic as well. The French Press brought out bolder flavor notes and really allowed the caramel and nuttiness to shine.
Where to Purchase
You can purchase Hearth, along with the rest of Purity’s offerings, on their website while supplies last. While you’re there, use the code COASTERSNCOFFEE to get 20% off your first order! At a price point of $30 for 12 oz (about $40 per pound), Purity Hearth has a premium price, but being a limited-edition and truly fantastic coffee, it is worth the cost. You can also drink it confidently knowing it is a clean and lab tested coffee.
