How’s it going? Hope the coffee is flowing! Today we are going to be setting aside the French Press and doing something a little different. In my glass today I have a can of Loco Coffee’s Cold Brew.
When I am at a grocery store I always try to walk through the coffee aisle to see what type of deals I can score. During my shopping trip this week I noticed the last can of Loco Coffee Cold Brew sitting on the shelf marked 51% off. How could I not try it at over half off!?
Loco Coffee’s Cold Brew is a canned cold brew that is infused with coconut water. The company does not add anything else to the drink, which is appealing to me as I like to avoid artificial flavors and such in my drinks. I was hoping with the nutrients from coconut water this would be a solid option for a mid day pick me up, especially on hot days. Let’s find out of it lived up to this high hope.
Loco Coffee’s Cold Brew review:
This cold brew presents with an overly light body. I would honestly say it is about as close to having no body as a coffee can be. The coconut water dilutes the coffee too much without adding any coconut flavor itself. I was hoping for a slightly sweet and nutty flavor and instead just felt like I was drinking a glass of water.
The sip begins with a front that had no coffee or coconut water flavor, it had a slightly salty taste which was very unexpected. This flavorless front continued in the middle as I did not notice any flavor at all. Finally, during the finish I noticed a very subtle coffee taste. There were faint notes of dark chocolate and a slight nuttiness from the coconut water. These notes were almost unnoticeable, which was a shame as it almost had the flavor profile I was looking for.
Overall, I found Loco Coffee’s Cold Brew to be very disappointing. The coffee was overpowered by the coconut water, which also did not add anything to the drink, aside from a mildly unpleasant mouth feel. Even during the finish when some slight flavor came through the texture made it difficult to enjoy. From start to finish there is very little flavor with this coffee. This might work for someone who is not a fan of coffee but wants an alternative to energy drinks. If you are a coffee drinker who enjoys the experience of drinking coffee I am not sure you will like this drink.
Loco Coffee’s Cold Brew is available on their website and can also be bought on Amazon and other online retailers. Most major retailers also appear to carry it in store. Loco Coffee also offers a variety of flavored lattes they claim to be clean. However, I disagree as they do contain natural flavors. I try to avoid natural flavors, but if they do not bother you give it a shot! They also offer a Vanilla Honey variant of their cold brew but the ingredients in this also give me some pause.
