Java Planet Organic Espresso Blend Coffee Review

Clean, organic, and bird friendly! Go Java Planet!

How’s it going? Hope the coffee is flowing! Today I am going to be talking about a coffee that my wife got me for Valentine’s Day. My wife is really good at picking coffees, she doesn’t drink it much, but she has picked out 3 or 4 bags for me as gifts and they have all been great coffees. With this little bit of background you can imagine I was very excited when a bag of coffee was part of my Valentine’s Day present. In my French Press today is that very coffee, Java Planet’s Organic Espresso Blend.

Prior to getting this bag of coffee I was not aware of Java Planet. They are a family roaster located in Florida who has been operating since 2009. Their story is pretty cool, you can read it here, but they started out just roasting their own coffee at home before their demand grew due to friends enjoying their coffee so much. From there they decided to start a coffee company that would provide organic and environmentally friendly coffee while supporting the growers they source from with fair wages. The coffee is also mold and mycotoxin free which is a huge benefit, especially at the price point (more on that below). With high quality coffee and a good mission, the last box to check is how the coffee is when it’s brewed! Will Java Planet’s Espresso Blend continue my wife’s trend of great coffee choices? Let’s find out!

When rating coffee I follow the same method of brewing each time. Find out about how I prepare the coffee I rate here.

Java Planet Organic Espresso Blend Coffee Review:

Java Planet’s Organic Espresso Blend has a molasses-like dark sugary fragrance. When brewed it gains a slightly sweeter aroma with notes of brown sugar. It is a heavy coffee possessing a full body with great weight.

The cup starts with dark chocolatey notes giving it a deep cacao-like taste without much sweetness. The middle starts to bring more of the dark sugary notes from the aroma, as the brown sugar from the aroma starts to come forward and provides a good balance with the dark chocolate. This leads to a great and pretty unique finish. The flavor profile in the finish is sweeter than the rest of the cup and has chocolatey notes, but instead of the traditional coffee like sweetness it is more brown sugar-like with a noticeable cacao balance. I really enjoyed this as it also had a touch of roastiness.

Overall I really enjoyed this coffee, it has a pretty traditional flavor profile for a dark roast in the start and middle before adding a unique twist in the finish. The quality of the coffee really shows too as it is smooth, easy to drink, and has no acidity. This would be a coffee that appeals to most coffee drinkers due to the flavor profile not being overly complex and how smooth the coffee is.

You can get Java Planet’s Organic Espresso Blend, as well as their many other blends on the Java Planet website and Amazon along with the rest of their coffees. Their coffee ranges from $22.99 to $23.99 per pound, which is a great price for organic and mold free coffee! I look forward to trying more of their coffee in the near future.
