How’s it going? Hope the coffee is flowing! I will admit I have been sitting on this content for a little while. I keep a few posts queued up and ready to go in case I am unable to do a new write up for some reason. I have been very sick for the past week and so today I am reaching into that bag content. This post is about one of the coffees I sampled at the Pennsylvania Chocolate and Coffee Festival (read my review here). In this review I will be discussing Boomi Coffee's Araku coffee.
Boomi Coffee is based out of India and focuses on eco-friendly sourcing and processing from the Araku Valley region of India (read more about Araku beans here). Araku Valley has the largest organic biodynamic coffee farm in the world. In short this means the farm works holistically to balance the soil with the rest of the environment by utilizing farming practices that create an ecosystem around the entire plantation. Biodynamics is an interesting concept, you can learn more about it here.
This was my first time trying coffee from the Araku Valley, so I was excited for the opportunity to try something completely new. Boomi is actually most known for their instant coffee and while I’ll definitely have some instant coffee reviews in the near future, I was excited to try their Moka Pot coffee at the festival.
Boomi Coffee Araku Review:
Boomi’s Araku coffee has a light body, it was very smooth with a mild acidity. The coffee starts out with a sweet and refreshing lemony front. These lemon notes get stronger in the middle, giving it a nice citrusy taste. The finish brings a good balance of citrus and sweetness, with just a touch of tartness, and closes out with some nice lemon notes.
Overall, this was one of the more unique coffees I sampled at the festival. It was citrus forward and had prominent lemon notes from start to finish. It was a terrific cup of coffee, smooth and easy to drink with a good flavor profile. If you like fruit forward, especially citrus fruit, coffees this would certainly appeal to you.
You can get Boomi’s Araku coffee on their website and on Amazon. While you’re there check out their full lineup of offerings!
