How’s it going? Hope the coffee is flowing! Today I am reviewing Dutch Country Farm Market, a farmers market located at 3190 Schuylkill Road in Spring City, Pennsylvania. While I will focus on the coffee in this review, Dutch Country Farm Market has a huge assortment of offerings including fresh produce, delicious baked good, meals to go, and many other things like spices, sauces, and bread. They also make their own soft pretzels in house, and I have a hard time not getting one during every trip because they are excellent. My wife also loves their smoothies and speaks highly of them. Well, now that I am hungry, let’s get to the coffee!
The first coffee I sampled from Dutch Country Farm Market was their House Blend. While they do not roast the beans themselves, the coffee is all ground fresh daily and despite being in a carafe in the middle of the day at the time of my visit I found the coffee to be very fresh.
Dutch Country Farm Market House Blend Review:
The House Blend had a lighter body, and while it was slightly acidic, it was still a fairly smooth cup of coffee. It did not have a bold flavor profile, but there were still some nice tasting notes present. The coffee starts slightly bitter, but not unpleasantly so, with very mild toasted nutty tones. The bitterness fades in the middle and gives way to some nice semi sweet and nutty notes. Finally, the coffee finishes with sweet caramel notes. I think the notes being muted are a strength for a house blend, as these blends should have mass appeal.
Overall, this was a good cup of coffee, one that most coffee drinkers would enjoy. It likely will not be my go to as I try their other blends and drink offerings, as I prefer bolder tasting notes.
This leads me to the next coffee I have tried at Dutch Country Farm Market, their nitro cold brew. If you have been a long time reader by now I am sure you have learned I absolutely love cold brew coffee.
Dutch Country Farm Market Nitro Cold Brew:
The nitro cold brew was lighter bodied, but there was a tremendous nitro head that gave it a nice creamy mouth feel. The first sip gives a roasty, but slightly tart start with malty notes. This leads into a semi-sweet chocolate middle that gradually shifts to sweet chocolate notes. The sweetness reaches a bold chocolatey peak, before shifting to toffee-like finish giving sweet and roasty notes.
Overall, this is one of the better cold brews I have had. It was very smooth and had a great flavor profile. Even my wife, who is not a black coffee drinker, couldn’t get enough of this. The flavors are bold but they are not overpowering. It is just an exceptionally well done cup of coffee.
Dutch Country Farm Market has some high quality coffee offerings to go with the many other products they offer. There is truly something for everyone, even the non-coffee drinkers in your life. If you follow them on Facebook each week they share a list of names who can stop by for a free treat, and while this does not include coffee you can get a delicious smoothie or soft pretzel! While you are there make sure you grab a cup of coffee too. I would recommend the cold brew.
