How’s it going? Hope the coffee is flowing! Today we are going to be talking about a steal I got during Amazon Prime Day. In my French Press today I have Kicking Horse’s Three Sisters Coffee.
I will be totally honest, I bought this because it was $6.39 during Prime Day. I went into Prime Day exclusively looking for deals on premium coffee and this was the best deal. $6.39 for 10 oz of organic coffee is a hard deal to pass up! The coffee itself is interesting as Kicking Horse states it is a blend of light, medium, and dark roast coffee. This also would have piqued my interest in the coffee if the price already didn’t get me! You can actually see the different roasts of the beans in each bag, as the beans are 3 distinctly different shades. Did that blend of roasts make for a unique coffee experience? Read on to find out!
When rating coffee I follow the same method of brewing each time. Find out about how I brew the coffee I rate here.
Kicking Horse Three Sisters review:
One of the first things that stood out to me about Kicking Horse Three Sisters was the aroma. Out of all the coffees I’ve reviewed so far Three Sisters packed the biggest punch aromatically. The nose on this coffee was quite sweet, much sweeter than the taste ended up being. It was a full bodied coffee with a noticeable, but not unpleasant, acidity.
The coffee begins with a cherry-like citrusy tartness. This front is balanced by a touch of sweetness. The sweetness fades, but remains present in the middle, however the tart cherry notes steal the show here. The finish on this one is great, with a chocolate covered cherry-like sweetness that maintains a hint of the citrusy tartness. The flavor notes on this were very rich and it was a great experience. I believe the combination of roasts helps make this a well rounded coffee. The light and medium roast beans help create a bold flavor profile while the dark roast beans helps reduce the acidity.
Overall, I really enjoyed this coffee. What stood out to me was the rich flavors that really let the tasting notes shine. There is quite a bit going on with this blend, so if you prefer a simpler roast this might be too complex for you. The flavors are rather bold and there is a lot going on with the flavor profile. I would still highly recommend it, as the tasting notes are terrific and it is a very good coffee.
You can pick up a bag of Three Sisters from the Kicking Horse Coffee Website and Amazon. You may also find it on the shelves at your local grocery store. Kicking Horse offers a wide variety of coffee blends you can find their full range of offerings here. I certainly look forward to reviewing more of their coffees in the future!
