How’s it going? Hope the coffee is flowing! Today I’m taking a break from the new format to talk about another clearance find at my local grocery store. We kicked off summer with an Oatmilk Latte from Taika, so it only seems appropriate to close it out with a review of their Macadamia Latte.
The Brand
As you’ll recall from my Taika Oatmilk Latte review, the company was founded with the mission of harnessing the caffeine in coffee while preventing the jitteriness and other side effects that are sometimes associated with it. If you haven’t already, read the review to find out my thoughts on this claim. They primarily use plant-based ingredients and include a proprietary “creative blend” in their drinks. This blend consists of L-theanine, KSM-66 Ashwagandha, and Lion’s Mane, which serve as adaptogens and offer unique health benefits.
Health Claims
Taika’s Macadamia Latte contains most of the same ingredients as the Oatmilk Latte, including the concerning natural flavors, gums, and sugar alcohol. While these additives are common in many canned coffees, Taika markets its products as a healthier alternative. For that reason, I want to reiterate that choosing a third-party tested coffee, such as Purity or Java Planet, is a better option.
Taika Macadamia Latte +Adaptogens review:
Characteristics and Flavor Profile
| Taika Macadamia Latte | Canned Coffee |
| Aroma | Sweet and robust nutty notes |
| Body | Medium body with good mouthfeel and weight |
| Start | Very sweet with strong notes of sugar |
| Middle | Sweet, but noticeably less sweet than the start |
| Finish | A slight hint of date-like fruity sweetness and an unpleasant aftertaste associated with erythritol |
Overall Thoughts
Overall, this is a pretty poor canned coffee. Nothing about the flavor profile or the coffee itself stands out, aside from perhaps the body. The most noticeable taste was the sweetness, while any actual coffee flavor was nonexistent. The unpleasant aftertaste ends the experience on a bad note, and I would not recommend this as a go-to canned coffee.
Where to Purchase
If you do decide to give the Macadamia Latte a try, you can keep an eye on the Taika website for when it is in stock. It is also listed on Amazon, though currently out of stock as well. This makes me wonder if Taika may be phasing this product out of production. Assuming this product is the same price as the Oatmilk Latte ($50 for a case of 12, an absurd $4.16 per can) I just cannot recommend it when $50 can get you a large bag of high quality coffee.
