Wegmans Organic Bold Dark Roast Coffee Review

How’s it going? Hope the coffee is flowing! Today we are going to be talking about one of the cheaper organic coffees that I have ever seen. In my French Press today I have Wegman’s Organic Bold Dark Roast. (Link coffee)

Wegmans Organic Bold Dark Roast coffee always catches my eye when I browse the coffee section in their stores. There is nothing about the packaging or anything that causes this, it is simply because at $6.49 for 12 ounces it is actually cheaper than most of their non-organic coffee. What’s going on with the pricing here, is it a low quality coffee that isn’t worth drinking? Let’s find out!

Wegmans Organic Bold Dark Roast Coffee review:

Wegmans Organic Bold Dark Roast certainly lives up to the bold claims in its name. This is a robust coffee with a full body. It was more acidic than I anticipated it being, but not overbearing. Despite the acidity it was still a moderately smooth cup of coffee.

The coffee has a deep roasty front with slight smoky notes and a slight bitterness. The bitterness continues into a dark chocolate, think very dark chocolate with more coca flavor than sweetness. The bitterness slightly fades into a finish with clove-like tasting notes, bitter but not unpleasant and slightly savory

Overall, it is a decent cup of coffee. The flavor profile is not overly powerful and aside from a strong roasty front nothing stands out. This is not a cup of coffee for those who like a sweeter roast, as there is no sweetness present throughout. It would make a great base for mixed coffee or espresso drinks as it is coffee forward and doesn’t have overly strong flavors that could conflict with the ingredients of a mixed or espresso drink.

Unlike my usual reviews, unsurprisingly you can only get this coffee at Wegmans. It’s available on the Wegman’s website or in their grocery stores, where it is slightly cheaper. It’s also available pre-ground and as K-Cups. If you are looking for a bold, organic, coffee forward blend that won’t break the bank, Wegman’s Organic Bold Dark roast might just be the perfect blend for you!
