Purity Coffee Balance Review
Characteristics and Flavor Profile
Grinding Balance brought out a slightly citrusy pop of fruit with a touch of vanilla.
| Purity Balance | French Press | Pour-Over |
| Aroma | Sweet vanilla aroma with a very slight berry-like sweetness | Mild berry aroma, not strong but noticeable |
| Body | Medium-light body, a mild mouthfeel without much weight | Light body, not noticeable mouthfeel or weight |
| Start | Vanilla bean start, sweet vanilla balanced by a touch of pleasant bitterness | Great berry start, bold berry flavors balanced by a touch of roastiness |
| Middle | Vanilla flavor notes switch from vanilla bean to a sweeter warm vanilla | Roastiness gets stronger in the middle, settling the cup into delicious coffee forward middle |
| Finish | Sweetness fades into a roasty hazelnut-like finish | Sweet berry notes return along with a touch of vanilla bean |
Overall Thoughts
Overall, this was a delicious decaf coffee. It can be difficult to find a decaf with noticeable and enjoyable flavors, but Balance delivers just that. It was smooth with a nice complexity, however the flavor notes were still a bit light. When brewed in the French Press, I think this coffee would appeal to most coffee drinkers as the vanilla and nuttiness give it a relatively traditional flavor profile. The pour-over brings out a fruitiness that was bold but balanced, though it may still not appeal to those who do not like a fruity coffee.
I thoroughly enjoyed this coffee when made with my Chemex, the pour-over brew method helped to bring out the berry notes more than the French Press which helped give the coffee a touch of complexity.
Where to Purchase
You can purchase Balance, along with the rest of Purity’s offerings, on their website. While you’re there, use the code COASTERSNCOFFEE to get 20% off your first order! At a price point of $29 for 12 oz (about $38.67 per pound) or $129 for 5 lbs (about $27.80 per pound), Purity Balance has a premium price, but for a clean and lab tested coffee this price is worth knowing you are drinking one of the cleanest coffees on the market.
