How’s it going? Hope the coffee is flowing! Today I am going to be talking about another clean, certified mold free coffee from a roaster I just recently learned about, but have really been enjoying! After trying Java Planet’s Organic Espresso Blend (read my review here) I saw a coupon on their Instagram offering a sample of one of their other coffees for $5. As you all know, I cannot say no to a good deal, so of course I went ahead and ordered it. In my French Press today is that coffee, Java Planet’s Organic Colombia Single Origin Coffee.
I touched on Java Planet’s history in my prior review, but you can read about their story here. I will reiterate that all of their coffee is organic and certified mold and mycotoxin free in addition to being environmentally conscious in their sourcing and roasting. The company also pays fair wages to all of the growers they source from. If you read my review of their espresso you will know I really enjoyed it, if not, now you know! It set some high expectations, so let’s find out if their Colombia Single Origin lives up to them!
When rating coffee I follow the same method of brewing each time. Find out about how I prepare the coffee I rate here.
Java Planet Organic Colombia Single Origin Coffee Review:
During the grind Colombia Single Origin Coffee has a sweet fragrance with a touch of floral chamomile. As it brews the smell remains sweet but the notes shift and take on more of a cholocately aroma. The coffee has good weight to it with a medium-full body.
The cup starts with mild cherry notes, giving it a subtle fruity sweetness balanced by a touch of tartness. The fruitiness continues in the middle and the tasting notes become stronger, with the flavor getting sweeter and taking on a slightly raisin-like taste. The fruitiness fades in the finish and the flavor shifts to a mildly sweet roastiness, giving the coffee a fantastic coffee forward finish.
Overall this was another very smooth and delicious coffee from Java Planet. The flavors are bold and very noticeable, but well balanced. There is a subtle complexity that coffee drinkers will really enjoy while being coffee forward enough to allow the coffee quality to show, especially in the finish. This is a good option for just about any coffee drinker, especially those who like fruity tasting profiles.
You can get Java Planet’s Colombia Single Origin Colombian Coffee on the their website and Amazon along with the rest of their coffees. Their coffee ranges from $22.99 to $23.99 per pound, which is a great price for organic and mold free coffee!
