How’s it going? Hope the coffee is flowing! Christmas might be over but today I am going to be sharing my review of La Colombe’s Peppermint Mocha Draft Latte.
As you know by now, I am a sucker for clearance deals, especially on coffee. So, when I saw the clearance tag as I walked through the aisle of my local grocery store I couldn’t resist picking up this canned cold brew to try. Over the summer I reviewed La Colombe’s black cold brew and found it to be decent, but nothing spectacular (read my review here). Will this peppermint latte offer a similar experience? Let’s find out!
La Colombe Peppermint Mocha Draft Latte:
This coffee (unsurprisingly) has a sweet peppermint nose with a hint of chocolate. The body is very light and milky, with very little weight to it. The latte has a strong and fairly sweet peppermint and chocolatey front. There is good balance here between the peppermint and mocha. The chocolate flavor fades and gives way to a very minty middle where the peppermint notes truly stand out. Unfortunately, as this minty flavor fades, a bitter and harsh chemically taste starts to come through. This is typical of drinks with natural flavors and unfortunately ruins the experience of the coffee.
Overall, this is not a coffee I would drink again. The peppermint and mocha flavors overshadow the coffee and it felt more like drinking a peppermint chocolate milk. These two flavors were well-balanced and worked great together, but unfortunately they were spoiled by an unpleasant and chemically aftertaste.
You can find La Colombe’s Peppermint latte on their website as well as retailers such as Amazon and other grocery stores. This is a limited edition coffee that is only available around Christmas.
