How’s it going? Hope the coffee is flowing! Today I’m going to be talking about another value coffee that I found recently. When I talk about value coffees I try to stick to coffees that are around $10 per bag and organic, with fair trade certified being an added bonus. It’s also worth noting that this particular bag was strictly high-grown coffee, which leads to higher quality beans with more flavor. At a price point of $5.79 for 12 ounces ($7.72 per pound) Simply Nature Organic Honduras Single Origin coffee certainly falls in this category.
I recently had to stop by Aldi to pick up some of my daughter’s favorite puréed food pouches (which are another great value at 89 cents a pouch for all the parents out there). I ended up in the coffee aisle and figured not much would appeal to me there. Boy was I wrong. I found the last bag of Simply Nature Organic Honduras Single Origin whole beans. At a price of $5.79 there was no way I could pass it up. Value coffees tend to leave a lot to be desired, so let’s find out how this one stacks up with the high quality coffees I’ve reviewed.

Simply Nature Organic Honduras Single Origin Coffee review:
This coffee had a pretty strong aroma, with sweet notes of molasses. Though it had some pretty noticeable weight, it was still more on the medium-full body side than full bodied. The front was slightly bitter, with notes of hazelnut balancing a nuttiness with a touch of sweet. These hazelnut notes build up in the middle before giving way to really nice dark sugary notes, giving bold tastes of sweet molasses. Finally the coffee finishes with some bitterness returning. This is balanced by a decent sweetness, giving it notes of bakers chocolate.
Overall I found this to be a good, but not great coffee. At the price point of $5.79 for 12 ounces it is still a great deal. There was a dark and rich sweetness to it but it wasn’t overpowering which would make this a great option for most coffee drinkers. It did lack complexity, which most strictly high grown Honduran coffees are known for, but again at the price point it’s a great option especially as an affordable organic daily drinker.
This was the first time I’d seen this coffee in an Aldi and I have not been back since, but I would highly recommend checking the coffee aisle if you’re ever there and picking a bag up. I know I will be! It is not widely available online and I could not find any sources I trusted enough to share so you’ll have to keep an eye out for an Aldi to stop in to so you can give this a try for yourself.
