B-Cups Coffee Dee’s Decaf Review

Visual evidence that I do drink decaf sometimes!

How’s it going? Hope the coffee is flowing! It only feels appropriate that we have another B-Cups Coffee for my usual weekly review, as we are still in the middle of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. In my French Press today I have B-Cups Coffee’s Dee’s Decaf coffee. That’s right, it’s time for my first ever decaf review.

If you read my review of B-Cups Coffee’s Island Roast you will remember that the company was started in honor of the co-founder’s aunt, who unfortunately passed away after a long fight with breast cancer. You can read about their story here. Well, this roast is another means for honoring her, as the company decided to name their decaf blend after her because they knew it was a blend they would make as long as the company existed.

Admittedly, I am not a big decaf drinker, I plan to continue to review them, but as you may have noticed I will spend most of my time in regular coffees. However, I was excited to give this one a try and continue to expand my coffee horizons. Even though I am not as highly caffeinated writing this, lets get to the coffee!

When rating coffee I follow the same method of brewing each time. Find out about how I brew the coffee I rate here.

B-Cups Dee’s Decaf Review:

Dee’s Decaf had a strong roasty nose, with a nice touch of malty sweetness. The coffee was full bodied, I was a bit surprised by the body as the other B-Cups Coffees I have tried were light bodied. I liked this change a lot. The coffee was not acidic nor bitter, which is unsurprising as caffeine can generate some bitterness in a coffee and this one was decaf!

The malty notes from the nose came through in the flavor of the front, it had a slightly sweet and roasty start. The sweetness continued into the middle and became more prominent, but not overpowering. The sweetness was a bit of a darker brown sugar-like sweetness. This sweetness fades in the finish and slight notes of hazelnut finish off the experience.

Overall, this was a very smooth and easy to drink cup of coffee. It had little to no acidity or bitterness. While there were some notes of sweetness, this was a very coffee forward coffee with a simple flavor profile. As the decaf offering for B-Cups Coffee this makes perfect sense, as most companies have a limited number of decaf blends it is important that they have mass appeal. This coffee would likely be a crowd pleaser for most coffee drinkers.

If you would like to try Dee’s Decaf for yourself you can get it and the rest of B-Cups full lineup of coffee here. Thanks to their very generous gift, I have many more bags of their coffees to try so stay tuned to check out the rest of my reviews for their blends. In the mean time, if you like what you hear go ahead and support some awesome people and an awesome cause by picking up a few bags from the B-Cups Coffee Website or in select retail stores!
