How’s it going? Hope the coffee is flowing! As you all know, I’m not a big flavored coffee drinker, but every now and then I pick up a bag for my wife to try, which also gives me the chance to review it. For this week’s review, I’m brewing Candy’s Coffee Palace’s Chocolate Hazelnut Flavored Coffee.
The Brand
Candy’s Coffee Palace has a limited web presence and is a relatively new brand, having launched in November 2025. Primarily operating through its online store, Candy’s Coffee Palace offers a wide range of coffees along with loose-leaf tea and coffee related merchandise. Instead of roasting in house the company utilizes Temecula Coffee Roasters, a company that specializes in private labeling and drop-shipping coffee.
The Roaster
Temecula Coffee Roasters launched in 2017 and quickly grew from a small roaster into a company with a strong wholesale coffee presence. As the company’s operations expanded, it moved beyond wholesale roasting to become a full-service partner for coffee brands through the entire sales process. Today, Temecula Coffee Roasters supports its partners by roasting orders, labeling products, and handling shipping as well.
I’m not usually a flavored coffee drinker, though I do really enjoy B Cups Coffee’s Island Roast. Let’s see how Candy’s Coffee Palace’s flavored coffee compares!
When rating coffee I follow the same method of brewing each time. Find out about how I prepare French Press coffee here.

Characteristics and Flavor Profile
Unsurprisingly, when ground this coffee has bold notes of sweet chocolate and hazelnut.

| Body | Medium body | Medium body, surprising weight and mouthfeel for a filtered coffee |
| Start | Subtle hazelnut notes, sweet with a touch of bitterness | Bold sweet chocolatey notes with a touch of hazelnut |
| Middle | Chocolatey notes start to come forward with the hazelnut remaining | Flavors shift with hazelnut becoming the focus and chocolate fading |
| Finish | Harsh and unpleasant bitterness with an artificial and chemically aftertaste | Bitter hazelnut notes with a distinct chemically taste becoming more noticeablele |
Overall Thoughts
Overall, I did not find this to be an enjoyable cup of coffee. The flavor notes felt well balanced, with noticeable chocolate and hazelnut that still let the roasty coffee notes come through. However, the coffee itself was not smooth, and I found it quite difficult to drink. The finish was particularly off-putting, with a harsh bitterness and strong chemical notes. With the wide range of flavored coffee offerings available, I’m not sure who this would appeal to.
I do not have a preferred brew method for this coffee. In addition to trying it with my French Press and Chemex, I also cold brewed it for my wife, and neither of us could drink it. I ended up throwing away the remaining grounds, as I can’t ever see myself drinking this, I would rather go without coffee for the day if needed.
Where to Purchase
If you’re interested, you can purchase Candy’s Coffee Palace’s Chocolate Hazelnut, along with the rest of their offerings, on their website. Starting at $22.99 for a 12 oz bag (about $30.65 per pound) or $29.99 for a 1 lb bag, it’s fairly expensive, especially for a coffee that is not organic nor third-party tested.
If you’re looking for a great flavored coffee, I would recommend B-Cups Coffee, as their offerings do not have the harsh, chemical aftertaste found in many flavored coffees. For a cleaner flavored coffee, Java Planet’s Chocolate Almond and CocoHaze (Coconut and Hazelnut) are great alternatives that are third-party tested and use organic flavors.
