Loco Coffee Vanilla Honey Cold Brew Review

This was a vacation sampling, don’t mind the different glass!

How’s it going? Hope the coffee is flowing! Today I am going to be take a quick break from the French Press and celebrate Spring by popping open a can of cold brew. During my latest grocery shopping trip I noticed the last Loco Vanilla Honey Cold Brew sitting on the shelf with a discontinued tag. For 51% off how could I not!? This is my second Loco coffee review as I previously tried their Cold Brew with Coconut Water and was not a huge fan. Let’s find out if their Vanilla Honey Cold Brew will yield a different result!

Loco Coffee Vanilla Honey Cold Brew Review:

The Vanilla Honey Cold Brew has a sweet aroma with a touch of vanilla with a slight rum-like bitterness. There is not much weight to it, it has a very light and milky body.

It starts with a creamy flavor, the coffee and vanilla honey is not noticeable here as the oat milk overpowers it. The middle has a subtle sweetness from the vanilla and honey, it is not strong but noticeable enough to be enjoyable. This sweetness stays through to the finish and is the only flavor that the coffee has. Unfortunately this coffee has an artificial and slightly chemical aftertaste.

Overall this drink did not have any real coffee taste to it. It starts out milky without much flavor and then has a pop of vanilla and honey in the middle. The major downside to the drink was the aftertaste, which was chemically and relatively unpleasant. The lack of coffee standing out was a similar issue with their Cold Brew with Coconut Water as well. With only sampling 2 drinks from Loco I am hesitant to say it is a trend, but if I sample more in the future it is something I will pay attention to.

The Vanilla Honey Cold Brew is no longer available on the Loco website and currently shows unavailable on Amazon as well, this leads me to believe they may have phased it out of production completely. You may still be able to find it at local retailers, and if it is also deeply discounted it may be a coffee worth trying if you enjoy lattes or other coffee drinks that are made in a way that minimizes the coffee flavor. With a heavy discount it also could be a good coffee to keep in the fridge if you need something fast and do not have time to brew your own. As a parent I know I have a few coffees in the fridge for this purpose.

If you are interested in the other offerings from Loco Coffee you can find them on the Loco website. They offer a black cold brew, that for some reason has natural flavors, along with canned lattes. One concern I have with the brand as a whole is they market their coffee as health focused and with minimal ingredients, however reading the label suggests they do not adhere to this marketing.
