How’s it going? Hope the coffee is flowing! Today, I’m going to be talking to you about another delicious decaf I was able to get my hands on at the 2025 Pennsylvania Chocolate and Coffee Festival. This week, I’m brewing my daughter’s favorite coffee from the festival, Semilla Coffee Roasters’s Brazilian Decaf.
The Roaster
Semilla Coffee Roasters is a micro-roastery founded in 2020 by Yil, the granddaughter of Puerto Rican coffee farmers. Her upbringing on a coffee farm sparked a lifelong passion for the craft, inspiring her to master the art of roasting in pursuit of the perfect cup.
Driven by a passion for quality and fairness, Semilla is dedicated to sourcing exceptional coffee while building equitable partnerships with the farmers behind each crop. The result is a selection of organic, sustainably sourced coffees that display Semilla’s love for coffee while also honoring the heritage of Yil’s grandparents.
This coffee also lead to my favorite moment from the festival this year. As I mentioned earlier it was my toddler’s favorite coffee. She was a bit upset about the lack of decaf options being brewed for her to try. However, when she tried Semilla’s decaf, her face lit up and she wanted to go tell Yil how much she liked it. Yil then gave her a bunch of stickers and took photos with her. As a dad it was a really awesome moment to see how happy it made my little girl.
Will this decaf live up to the hype my little girl built around it? Let’s find out!
When rating coffee I follow the same method of brewing each time. Find out about how I prepare French Press coffee here.

Overall Thoughts
Overall, this was a great coffee, not even just a great decaf! The flavors were bold and the coffee was smooth, making it easy to drink. The flavor profile was slightly complex, making it a fun coffee to drink. However, the tasting notes were still something that I think would appeal to most coffee drinkers.
I ever so slightly preferred Semilla’s Brazilian decaf in my pour-over, primarily because the cinnamon notes were bold and had such a great taste which ended the cup on a very high note. That said, you really can’t go wrong with either brewing method.
Where to Purchase
You can get this delicious decaf on the Semilla website along with their other amazing offerings. They roast and ship their coffee on Tuesdays and Thursday, and all orders are roasted to order, so you know you are getting the freshest beans possible. Semilla offers some truly delicious and unique coffees, and Yil’s skill as a roaster can be tasted in every cup.
